I read most of this on two plane rides to and from Chicago and my seat mates both ways had the pleasure of listening to my chortles during our time aloft. Much freer than it's possible to at home, with her larger-than-life mother and her mother's needy friends cluttering up the kitchen table. I love her books and look forward to reading all of them and am only sorry that she is no longer on this earth. But, I have to believe that if these characters had come alive, Eli Lilly Land would have been more attractive and effective.
